How did your own company originate?

“When the restaurant where I worked had to close due to corona, I spent my time cooking for my parents. I pulled out all the stops and made the most special dishes. I took a picture of it and posted it on a separate Instagram account that I called Joep Food. The followers skyrocketed, I even got messages about whether I could be hired. Then I thought: why don't I start for myself? ”

Why do you think your luxury dishes sell so well?

“Crazy creative food combinations often put people off. They don't recognize something, so they think they don't like it either. I am looking for exactly the combination of ingredients that people do and do not know. In addition, I do not sell the dishes for a crazy price. In this way, people with a small purse also get the opportunity to have a chic dinner at home without a high bill. ”

What distinguishes Joep Food from the rest of the take away companies?

“Joep Food does not have a standard menu. Every week I make a new three to four course menu where all ingredients are fresh and the dishes are homemade. This gives me the space to be creative every week, instead of following a standard recipe. ”

What are the reactions when people see such a young chef before them?

“Guests often question whether someone of eighteen can cook. But recently I cooked dishes for a small group of people, with all kinds of special flavor combinations that they didn't know yet. They were skeptical, but when they took a bite, they suddenly had tears in their eyes. "Never eaten so well!" They said. That is the best thing that can happen to you. ”
